THIS Guy?

Biden?! Oh, all right. I like Biden, though when I first heard, I wasn’t thrilled about it for a lot of the same reasons I was anti-Dodd. But in my feed-skimming this morning, I eventually came around; LAist made the best case for him (particularly the last point — I certainly like the idea of a Vice-President Pit Bull who can keep Obama on the high road).
He’s actually a very, very smart guy, and he’s very plain-spoken when people say things that are idiotic. He has a reputation of being friendly with McCain, and as I watch him this minute, he’s being smart enough to say, “I have been friends with McCain, but he is wrong, and he’s not going to be different from Bush, and you cannot vote for him, even though I think he’s a good guy.” I think that’s the best way to deal with McCain, honestly, for the war-hero reasons and so forth. You can turn a guy’s experience against him if you make it clear that he has a long, long history of supporting bad policies.
Biden was a Delaware senator when I grew up there as a kid, and he’s kind of a blowhard, I think, but he’s a smart guy and doesn’t lie down for nonsense, and I’m kinda thinking that’s going to be a good thing.
