G8_tree_plant_2 Remember what Barack Obama said about global warming the night of his victory in the last of the 2008 primaries?

Well, it’s looking like the fight against global warming isn’t going to happen very much sooner than that: this year’s G-8 summit has ended without leaders’ making any commitment to lower carbon emissionsnot even the one they proposed a couple of days ago that was pretty toothless to begin with. Oh well. Who really likes seasons, anyway?

Even Oilmen Recognize That Oil Is A Sucker Bet

PickensWell, one oilman, anyway: T. Boone Pickens, who made billions in oil, is now poised to make an enormous investment in wind power, and told attendees at a press conference on the subject, “Our dependence on imported oil is killing our economy. It is the single biggest problem facing America today.” As the price of oil and everything else continues to skyrocket, it’s hard to argue either with him, or with his plan to pursue alternative-energy options. Of course, one dude who disagrees with him happens to be the Republican nominee for President.

Hey, could T. Boone Pickens maybe run for President instead?
